Overview

Kardel Consulting Services Inc. (now known as Kardel) was born in 1987, during the early days of institutional closures.  There was no grand vision, only a desire to participate in the development of community-based services for people with developmental disabilities.  Since our beginning, we have been committed to person-centred supports that respect individual choice.

Kardel’s services have gradually diversified, an evolution made possible by the hard work, dedication, and creativity of many wonderful people.  Over the years Kardel representatives have also been active in many collaborative roles beyond their responsibilities within the agency, supporting more broadly the interest of community living in B.C.

Kardel is a CARF-accredited agency providing residential, day service, home share, respite services, and other individualized supports through Host Agency Agreements.  The services Kardel provides are funded by Community Living BC. The desire to participate in the development of individualized community-based services is as vital today as it was when Kardel began.

On behalf of Kardel we acknowledge and thank the 50 First Nations of Vancouver Island that are in distinct tribal regions, Coast Salish, Nuuchah and Kwakwakw communities – past, present, and future – for their stewardship, care, and leadership on these beautiful lands.

Kardel acknowledges that we are guests on these lands whose traditional territory we live, learn, play and work. We are grateful for the traditional knowledge keepers and Elders who are with us today, those who have gone before us and the youth that continue to inspire us.

We respectfully recognize the land and the benefits it provides for all of us, as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside. We will strive to continue to educate ourselves to right the wrongs and address racism on these lands.

We raise our hands in gratitude
